Spring Bulb

‘Springbulb’ is a monument to the soon extinct light bulb. The installation was first shown at ‘Shapeshifter 2008’ at the New Dowse Gallery in Wellington. The work encapsulates ideas on energy, transmission and connectedness and is an extension of my previous work ‘Skysparkle’ but instead of broken glass sparkling in the sunlight, tiny LED lights powered by solar energy glow in the dark.

Materials: timber, glass, stainless steel, brass, LED lights, solar panels, PVC re-chargeable batteries, marine grade UV stabilised polypropylene rope, sealants…
