Quintinia Serrata
‘Quintinia Serrata’ is a large-scale billboard showing a microscopic image of a Quintinia Serrata leaf, a rare native shrub that grows in Auckland on the Waitakere Ranges. This blown up image of a piece of plant was then ‘inserted’ into the coastal landscape of Matiatia Bay on Waiheke Island as part of ‘Sculpture on the Gulf 2004’. Here the displaced billboard’s elongated shape simultaneously blocked out a view and pasted a new picture into the landscape.
