Suza Schiele was born in Germany and grew up in Turkey where her parents where employed by the German Institute of Archaeology. She lived and worked in Europe as Interior Designer before she came to New Zealand in 1992. After raising a family she enrolled at Elam School of Fine Arts, The University of Auckland, studying under Derrick Cherrie, Michael Parekowhai and et al. During her studies she received ‘The University of Auckland Masters/Honours (2001) Scholarship’ and the ‘Scott Ellery Medal’.  She graduated with a BFA in 2001 and a Master of Fine Arts in 2003.

During the next decade Suza developed her ‘Cosy Cosmos’ works and public interactive installations and performances while working part time as designer and art teacher.  In 2013 she moved to Northland dividing her time between art making, landscaping and holding local art classes. She is currently showing ‘Welcome to Cosy Cosmos’,  an extensive selection of her recent paintings and sculptures at the Whangarei Art Museum.
